The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is Canada’s National Police Service. The RCMP provides law enforcement services across the country. The RCMP provides municipal police services for the Town of Viking.

Make the right call:

When should you call 911?

When urgent police, fire or ambulance service is needed.

Some examples of emergency situations include;

  • Reporting an impaired driver;
  • Crime in progress;
  • Domestic dispute;
  • Fire;
  • Serious medical problem (chest pain, seizure, bleeding breathing problems).

When should you call the RCMP Complaints Line?
780-336-3434 (24 hours)

  • Non-urgent situations;
  • Break-ins or thefts where the suspect is gone;
  • Reporting a crime that happened some time ago;
  • Suspicious vehicle, person or activity;
  • Neighbourhood disputes including noise complaints;
  • Non-urgent cases where immediate police attendance is NOT crucial.

Another way to report non-urgent occurrences is to visit the front counter at the RCMP office. (Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.).  

To report vehicle collisions, ensure you have:

  • Vehicle insurance;
  • Registration;
  • Driver's license.

For Criminal Record Checks you must have:

  • Photo identification;
  • $25.00 fee for employment checks;
  • No fee for volunteer position (letter required).

When should you call the RCMP Administration Line?

  • Information requests;
  • Investigation inquiries;
  • General inquiries.

When should you call Bylaw Enforcement?

  • Construction noise;
  • Parking complaints;
  • Snow removal.

When should you call Parks Bylaw Enforcement?
780-336-3466 (8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m.)

After Hours call the RCMP Complaint Line 403-343-5575

  • Homeless camps;
  • Motorized vehicles in parks;
  • Parties in parks;
  • Concerns involving parks.

When should you call Animal Control?
780-336-3466 (8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m.)

  • Lost animals;
  • Injured animals;
  • Stray animals;
  • Removal of deceased animals;
  • Barking dogs.
